Bhiwandi (Thane), July 08: The situation in this riot-torn powerloom town of Maharashtra, where two persons were killed in police firing and two policemen died in a mob attack, is limping back to normalcy, police said.
The curfew, imposed on Wednesday, was lifted last night after the funeral of the two victims of police firing, police said adding the situation was under control.
No fresh incident was reported since last night in the town even as strict vigil was being being maintained with the deployment of SRP, RAP and other personnel to assist police in maintaining peace in the area.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray condoled the death of two policemen by the mob.
Quoting Sena supremo, Thane Mayor Rajan Vichare announced late last night that Thackery has asked Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray to visit the families of the policemen and hand over a donation of Rs one lakh to the families of each of the policemen killed in the riots.
The bodies of the policemen were taken to their respective villages in Jalgaon and Nasik districts and cremated with full state honours, police added.
